Paper Filigree/Quilling Classes – 3 sessions
Three Saturday Mornings: Nov 14, 21, 28, 10:00a.m. – Noon
$30 kit (If you order online now, the kit is only $25), Ages 12+ (requires fine motor skills)
Instruction for non-members is $5/session (paid at the time of the class) but free to paid members
These three sessions will introduce students to the zen art of quilling, also known as paper filigree – the coiling of paper in intricate designs. This aft form, now enjoying a huge comeback, was supposedly used by ancient Egyptians, and throughout the ages. Modern tools and papers take this art to the next level. This class will cover the basic shapes and provide the students with the skills, tools, and materials needed to create 3 increasingly complex patterns designed by the instructor.
The class will be in 3 sessions:
Introduction to the basic skills and tools plus creation of a Beginner Difficulty: Flower (daisy – and others if students zip through the first one)
Medium Difficulty: Butterfly – This requires the tweezers and a bit more motor control than the flower
The kit includes: Slotted Quilling tool (primary tool for the art form), plenty of 1/8″ paper strips to make the 3 designs, plus a rainbow of colors, cardstock, non-stick silicone discs, silicone brush, small travel scissors, specialty tweezers, circle sizer, pins, plastic sheet, cardboard backer.
We’ll share incidentals such as glue, thread, glitter, etc.
