WE PROVIDE THE TOOLS, FACILITY, AND INSTRUCTION FOR YOU TO MAKE THINGS
We now occupy about half of a large double wide warehouse bay. This is a warehouse with roll up doors and high ceilings. The basics are built out, and we are fine tuning. We have a spacious workshop (wood and metal), and a multi-purpose area with electronics/computers/3d printers.
The Makerspace is staffed by volunteers on Sat – Sun from 12-5 pm for open public hours. We also have regular classes, special events and several Special Interest Groups are starting to form. This is Maui’s community driven Makerspace!
Trusted members are eligible for 24-7 access.

Enable 3D Printed Prosthetic Hand
Our 3D printing special interest group has been printing a hand for a boy on Maui. We have made tremendous progress, and have a few working prototypes.
A donor generously donated a printer for us to use to build the hand, and we have it calibrated and printing pretty well, producing a couple of hands, including our popular Hulk Hand!
AINA (Automated Information on Nature Attributes)
is a field laboratory built on the Intel® Edison IoT platform. The acronym, “AINA”, references the a Hawaiian word for land or place.
We built a proof of concept re-configurable field lab kit that can collect environmental data. It runs on battery/solar, completely offline, which allows remote placement of the platform.
This project was featured on Instructables (click here).
Chilled Soil Agricultural Demonstration – aka Chill Box
This system circulates chilled water above soil in a window box sized container. The chilled water was designed to condense water from atmosphere onto the soil; and support growth of temperate plants in a semi-tropical/sea level environment. It used a Peltier with Corsair fan to condense water. The whole rig was run off a 12V battery, with a little micro-pump on a 5V DC out hacked PC power supply.
TV Heads (Arduino Night Build)
One of our members made some really cool Halloween costumes using Neopixels and an Arduino. This was a really cool build with a lot of components and the outcome was outstanding.
Michael was a big hit at the Lahaina Halloween Party on Front Street.
